day 20 & 21 - a new obsession

i have been baking for 2 days. for 2 days i've been searching for recipes, learning conversions, educating myself with baking lingo and whipping up a chocolate storm. because yes, i have found a new obsession. one day i woke up & said it is time to bake. which is why for 2 days i had neglected my august break project & even as i picked up the camera today, i couldn't make my chocolate & flour covered fingers take a decent shot of my freshly baked dark chocolate orange cupcakes. which is absolutely yum. a recipe which i'll continue to play with just because i can :)

day 19 - where have the waves gone

you see, august is supposed to be monsoon here on our little island. but it's been one hot day after the other with rare occasions of monsoon weather. it's pretty to have the sun out but i do miss the waves. i hope they come back, even for a day or two. i miss being on my board & surfing. this beachbaby needs to play in the water! :)

yesterday we met this lovely beach momma, trudi who graciously let us take her photos with her equally adorable son marcus. they looked beautiful... walking on the beach, playing with the waves, totally happy in the sun.

a beautiful night out on the island means hanging out with your best friends on the beach, listening to the sound of waves, guitar & drum music in the air, wind on our faces. no fancy clothes, no killer shoes... just a lot of bare & happy feet. :)

the august break begins! i didn't have to think twice what our first photo for this fun project would be. ladies & gentlemen, this is our beach, our island, our home. taken this beautiful sunday morning.

Looking forward

This August, The Beachbaby is taking part in Susannah's August Break ~ a fun way to be more active in the blogosphere. Each day for 31 days, The Beachbaby will be posting a photograph on this blog along with over a hundred other creative spirits. The idea is to be more present during the summer, which is monsoon on our side of the world by the way, by capturing moments that may otherwise be taken for granted.

We're excited to start clicking and sharing and seeing beautiful pictures from all over! :)

where has summer gone?

summer has been a string of days filled with funtivities, laughter, happy trails & stories from the islands. all of which are sources of inspiration for our next fun & exciting collection. we'll be sure to keep you posted.
